Hello fellow Chow Chow enthusiasts,

The executive members of the Chow Chows of Western Canada Ltd. wanted to provide you with a short update on club activities. We held our first Regional Specialty in conjunction with the National Chow Chow Specialty at the Red Deer Show on the weekend of October 7th/ 8th, 2023. While several entrants were unable to attend the show, we still had a good showing of excellent chows. The winners are posted here on our CCWCL website.

We have also held two successful silent auction tables, one at the Spring Red Deer show in April and a second one at the CCWCL Regional Specialty in October. We want to thank our generous donors who provided us with diverse and interesting auction items, that generated lots of excitement at the tables over the weekend. We were able to make enough money from the auctions to cover the costs of ribbons and other show expenses. One of our club members offered to purchase two perpetual trophies, one for Best of Breed, the second for Best of Opposite, while another member donated a large silver bowl to be used as a perpetual trophy for Best Puppy. Thank you again to our generous donors for making these beautiful trophies available for future shows. Several members donated items for our prizes and our gift bags, again highly appreciated. Thank you!

This year we are holding our second Regional Specialty in conjunction with the Alberta Kennel Club Summer Classic on August 4, 2024 at Spruce Meadows. We will have All Regular Classes plus Veteran, Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, AOM, Altered, Bred By Exhibitor, Baby Puppy, Canadian Bred as well as Sweepstakes. We would love to have more entries at this show, so please consider joining us in the ring with your chow. We also enjoy seeing spectators sitting ringside, so pack up a lawn chair and come cheer for the chow chows.

We want to host another Cayley campground potluck this year, as everyone enjoyed themselves in previous years. We will send out more information as we firm up the date. We are a small club, but have big dreams and we need our chow chow fans to join us. Your support enables us to continue to share our beloved breed with others, as well as with each other.
